CFP® – Certified Financial Planner The CFP® designation provides the assurance that your planner has completed a rigorous course of study approved by the Financial Planning Standards Council. In addition, your planner has passed the CFP® examination – an independently developed national comprehensive examination – and is committed to ongoing professional development and adherence to the professional CFP® Code of Ethics and CFP® Financial Planning Practice Standards.

CGA – Certified General Accountant. A CGA is an accounting professional with expertise in finance, taxation, information technology and strategic business management. CGA is a designation of financial professionals who are jointly members of the Certified General Accountants Association of Canada as well as a provincial or territorial CGA association.

FMA – Financial Management Advisor An FMA has acquired the knowledge and expertise to handle more complex wealth management issues.  This designation indicates the FMA has a deeper understanding of wealth management topics including estate planning, tax planning, insurance management and investment management.

PFP™ – Personal Financial Planner A PFP™ designation ensures the planner has gained the knowledge, skills and tools to evaluate and manage various wealth forms to optimize their clients’ financial situations. Individuals with this designation are qualified to write the CFP® examination with the Canadian Financial Planners Standards Council.
